neoSync: hybrid solar diesel controller

Protect the grid. Protect the genset. Harvest every kilowatt it safely can.

neoSync is NeoTAQ's hybrid solar diesel controller — coordinating PV, BESS and gensets to cut diesel and protect equipment across Asia, GCC and Africa.

It continuously measures power at the point of connection, adjusts your inverters in real time, and keeps the site inside its export, import and generator-loading limits.

Failsafe protection built in

If communication between any device and neoCore is lost, neoSync automatically enters failsafe mode, curtailing PV output and maintaining safe operation without manual intervention.

Data export and visualisation

  • Locally over USB
  • Locally via Modbus Gateway: connects to third party EMS and SCADA
  • Locally via FTP Push
  • Remotely via API integration

Core capabilities

Knows your power source

  • Continuously recognises what's powering the site (grid, generator, both or neither) and adapts control accordingly.
  • Works across a range of metering arrangements and confirms a change only once it's real, so a single noisy reading never causes an unnecessary switch.

Genset protection

  • On a generator, curtails PV to keep every genset above its minimum loading threshold, guarding against wet-stacking and reverse-power conditions that damage engines.
  • Honours each generator's own minimum across multiple units and ramps PV gently enough that the engine always keeps up.

Grid control

  • Holds measured power at the point of connection to your chosen policy target, steady and accurate, without overshoot or hunting, even with noisy meters or several feeders.
  • Reliable compliance with your export or import limits.

Safety first, always

  • Validated start-up: checks devices and site conditions before taking control of your inverters.
  • Continuous protection: keeps the site within export, import and generator-loading limits on every cycle.
  • Automatic safe mode: on a fault, ramps to a safe state immediately, then recovers on its own once conditions are healthy.
  • Rides through glitches: brief communication dropouts are tolerated; only a sustained problem triggers protective action.
  • Manual override: operators can take direct control of PV output for commissioning and testing.

Built for real sites

  • Smart ramping: measured on the grid, gentle on generators, fast when safety demands it.
  • No inverter dropouts: commands refreshed continuously so inverters never fall back to their own failsafe.
  • Bad-data aware: stale or offline meters are detected and kept out of control decisions.
  • Tunable per site: response speed, limits, ramp rates and thresholds are configurable, with safe defaults and validated ranges, no software changes.
  • Live status: operating mode, active policy, power source and inverter output reported in real time to the dashboard and neoSphere.

Operating modes (grid policies)

neoSync enforces exactly one grid policy at a time, selected per site. Change policy at any time from configuration. It applies cleanly, with no disruptive jump on the changeover.

Mode Behaviour
Zero Export Curtails PV so no power ever flows from the site to the grid. Ideal where feed-in is not permitted.
Minimum Import Holds the site drawing at least a configured kW from the grid, keeping a safety buffer against export.
Maximum Export Caps export at a configured limit, harvesting up to your connection agreement and no further.

How it works

  1. Measure

Reads grid, genset and PV power at the point of connection, in real time.

  2. Decide

Works out how to stay inside your limits and protect every asset.

  3. Control

Adjusts PV output safely, then measures again, continuously.

Runs continuously

neoSync runs on the same edge as neoLog, so the assets you're already logging become the assets you control. No second integration. Status and performance report to the neoSphere cloud for fleet-wide visibility.

Technical snapshot

Genset support Multiple generators, each protected to its own minimum loading
Power source Automatically recognises grid, genset, both or neither
Metering Works across common metering arrangements and multiple feeders
Ramping Adapts: measured on grid, gentle on genset, fast for safety
Safety Automatic safe-mode on faults, with self-recovery once stable
Tuning Configurable per site, with safe defaults and validated limits

Who it's for

  • C&I solar sites under zero-export or capped-export grid agreements.
  • Solar-diesel hybrid sites that must protect gensets while maximising PV.
  • EPCs and O&M providers who need one controller across many inverter brands.
  • IPPs standardising their fleet on a single, tunable control platform.

The neoSync advantage

  • Compliance, automatically. Never breach export or import limits.
  • Protect your assets. Genset minimum-loading and reverse-power safety built in.
  • Harvest more. Curtail only as much as physics demands, no more.
  • Vendor-neutral. Controls any supported inverter, regardless of brand.
  • Trustworthy by design. Predictable, auditable behaviour and safe-by-default recovery.

neoSync: questions buyers ask

See NeoTAQ run on sites like yours and get answers mapped to your setup.

What is a hybrid solar diesel controller?

A hybrid solar diesel controller coordinates PV, diesel gensets, battery storage and grid supply as one system — maximising solar use, holding gensets in their efficient range, and preventing reverse-power trips. neoSync does this automatically across mixed-brand equipment.

Can neoSync enforce zero export?

Yes. neoSync enforces grid export limits automatically, ramping solar gently to stay within the site's operating envelope.
