Custom load shedding by battery SOC
neoCore sheds and restores loads in stages based on the battery state of charge, following the client's priorities, so critical loads stay powered as long as possible.
A remote site in Sharjah, UAE, has no grid connection. It runs on solar PV, a 3 MWh battery sized for two days of autonomy and a backup generator. Two 500 kW Sinexcel PCS units, one on duty and one on standby, connect the Gotion batteries. NeoTAQ built custom control with neoCore and neoES: load shedding by battery state of charge, and battery charging from solar and the generator to the client's rules.
With no grid to fall back on, the site depends on solar, the battery and a backup generator, and has to keep its critical loads running through long stretches of poor sun. The client had specific rules: which loads must stay on, which can be dropped as the battery runs down, and when the generator should step in to recharge. Off-the-shelf controllers could not follow that logic, and a PCS fault could take the whole site down.
neoCore sheds and restores loads in stages based on the battery state of charge, following the client's priorities, so critical loads stay powered as long as possible.
neoES charges the 3 MWh Gotion battery from solar first, and starts the generator to charge only when state of charge falls to the client's set limits, keeping two days of autonomy in reserve.
One 500 kW Sinexcel PCS runs the site while the second stands by. If the duty unit faults, the standby takes over, so there is no single point of failure in power conversion.
Load priorities, SOC thresholds and generator start and stop points all follow the client's requirements, not a generic setting.
Solar does the charging whenever it can, so the generator runs only to protect the reserve, saving fuel and engine hours.
Staged load shedding and a two-day battery reserve keep essential loads running, with the standby PCS ready if the duty unit trips.
